MORE than 130 traffic enforcers will be deployed to manage the "Traslacion" or the procession for the Feast of Jesus Nazareno on Jan. 9.
"The procession will follow a route starting at St. Augustine Cathedral, moving along Fernandez Street, Don Apolinar Velez Street, CM Recto Avenue, and concluding at the Nazareno Church," city roads and traffic administration chief, Nonito Oclarit, said Tuesday.
Oclarit said the route has remained largely the same since the Traslacion began in 2009, with some streets closed for devotees.
Last year, more than 18,000 devotees attended the procession.
Nick Jabagat, chief of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said eight first-aid booths would be set up and medical personnel would be deployed.
Lt. Col. Nerfe Valmoria, city police chief of operations, said police personnel would be deployed on Jan. 8.
"We hope the public will not misconstrue our strictness in our security (during the two-day feast) because this is for everyone's safety in Cagayan de Oro City," she said.
Brig. Gen. Jaysen De Guzman, Police Regional Office 10 (Northern Mindanao) director, said 700 police personnel would be deployed.
Police will also activate their Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) and involve non-government organizations and community partners. (PNA)
