THE City Government has padlocked a junk shop operating in Barangay Nazareth in Cagayan de Oro City, for violations.
The closure order, through Executive Order No. 155, was issued to a junk shop owned by Niño Tagarda at 8th street, Nazareth.
According to the Business Permits and Licensing Division's (BPLD) Joint Inspection Team, the closure was done after the establishment failed to act on its violation despite three notices of violations sent to the owner.
Aside from having no business permit, the establishment is also located along the easement of the road and encroaching pedestrians.
The BPLD said the junk shop also violated Section 25 of 1994 otherwise known as the Codified Ordinance of Cagayan de Oro, which prohibits any operation of a junk shop business in Barangay Nazareth because it is a residential area.
The closure order was served on Friday, September 7, by the BPLD, City Administrator's Office, City Task Force Demolition, RTA, City Engineering's Office, Office of the Building Official, City Legal Office, and the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo).
Earlier, the City Government stepped up its campaign against business establishments violating the city law by involving barangay participation.
One of their tasks is to report to authorities if there are violations committed by the establishments within their vicinity.
Violations such as operating without business permit, illegally encroaching the sidewalk and for failing to comply provisions on the building code and fire code; and becoming a road obstruction, among others.
