HALLOWEEN fans are in for a wonderful trick or treat as several establishments in Cagayan de Oro City organized events in time for the celebration of the festival of the dead, monsters and ghosts.
Starting October 24 until 30, SM Cinemas nationwide will be having a horror film festival, namely: Sine Sindak.
Sine Sindak features eight horror films, which includes: The Hoarder (USA), The Dead Room (USA), Urban Evil (South Korea), Lavender (USA), Darkness Rising (USA), Hollow One (USA), The Lost Case (Thailand), and Grace (Thailand).
For P99, movie goers can watch one of the horror films played in the cinema, or watch all the films for P199 only.
If horror movies are not your forte, Halloween Costume Contests are also conducted in some of the malls, shops and food park in the city.
This Saturday, October 27, Lifestyle District will be having a Halloween Costume Contest, wherein people can win prizes or awards such as Best in Costume in Group Costume Category, Best in Gore Award, and Best in Individual Costume Category.
S&R, on the other hand, will be giving prizes for kids with the best Halloween costume Friday, October 26, in all its branches nationwide.
The registrants are limited to 100 slots per S&R Club.
In SM Downtown Premier, the mall will be celebrating Halloween with the kids, conducting games, setting up make over booth, and giving prizes to those with the best Halloween costumes on October 27 and 28.
The event will be conducted in Chops Children's Park located at the 4th floor of SM Downtown Premier.
On October 31, the Hive Food Park will be having a Halloween Trick or Treat and Costume Contest, starting at 8 p.m.
Registration is around 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., everyday, at the Hive Food Park and will cost P300 for those who will participate in the group category while P100 for the individual category.
Deadline of registration will be on October 27, at 6 p.m.
Halloween, also known as Allhalloween, All Hallows' Eve or All Saints Eve, is a celebration observed in a number of countries on October 31.
It originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.
However, Halloween has evolved to a day, week or month of activities like trick or treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, decorating houses with horror-themed decors, putting on costumes, eating sweets and doing horror movie marathons.
