Poet: Kenneth Acap
Theme: Relationship
I will ride the Mercedes
With my breath held until the end of eternity
and my feet lay stiff and still
for life had given me more than enough misery,
more than enough pain, more than enough joy and happiness
--in short, life gave me its all and how I wish I gave all of me to life.
But these thoughts they could spare me from guilt
for the thoughts of a dead man matter not to the world.
Blissful moments of silence sang your name into my heart
Through this should we say, to live life come what may.
If my fingers came alive again I'd hold you
If my lips could say these words again "I love you!"
And my arms would fling around your soul and hold you
Should I ever think again?
But the thoughts of a broken man don't matter anymore.
I should have sung those songs of love if they were meant to be heard by you
I should have said all those sorries that could have mended you
I should have asked for your forgiveness and gave you mine in return
For life is full when pardoned and I'd be less a fool.
I should have cried with you when broken you came forward
Instead of keeping strong and made my silence awkward
I should have said goodnight when all rain did was patter
But regrets won't come now because my thoughts, anymore, don't matter.
I will ride the Mercedes with my world in my pocket
Mumbling words trapped in my lame tongue astray.
Are those tears your envoys of love or are they pearls of regrets hidden in a bucket?
Yes, I lay still, live your life come what may.
For these thoughts, these thoughts of a dead man, anymore, don't matter.
