AUTHORITIES have caught two minors selling firecrackers in unauthorized area along JR Borja corner Osmena streets, Cagayan de Oro City and were brought to the police station for intervention during an inspection on Thursday, December 27.
Lawyer Jose Edgardo Uy, chairman of the Regulatory and Complaint Board (RCB), said the two minors were not arrested but only warned not to sell firecrackers again.
He said another vendor was also reprimanded for selling firecrackers in the area.
Uy said the City Government only allowed seven display areas for the selling of legal firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices which are located in Rotunda and near the parking areas in some malls in the city.
"Gi-warningan lang sa namo sila ug dili sa namo i-confiscate pero after sa inspection ug masakpan pa sila ayha namo i-confiscate ug filan sila sa kaso," Uy said.
"Ang duha ka minor gidala namo sa police station para sa intervention ug i-release ra to sila," he added.
On the other hand, Uy said vendors at the Rotunda area were compliant to the regulations set by the City Government.
Around 23 retailers have complied with the necessary permits and requirements.
During the inspection, the RCB and the police have mounted a "No smoking" and "Minors are prohibited from buying" tarpaulins.
"Ang among findings sa Rotunda compliant ang mga business establishments ug walay namaligya sa illegal nga paputok," Uy said.
Uy said the RCB wants the safety of the public and ensure that no minors are involved in the selling and buying of firecrackers.
"Ang tuyo sa sad sa Task Force Firecrackers nga masiguro nga authorize firecrackers ang gibaligya, dili flammable materials ang gamiton nga stalls ug sa designated locations ra gyud namaligya," Uy said.
Uy reminds the public to only blow off firecrackers in fireworks display area designated by the barangay.
