CAGAYAN de Oro City Health Office has reported the detection of another 27 new Delta variant cases in the city.
This is more than half of the cases recorded in Northern Mindanao, which is at 44.
With the 27 additional cases, the cumulative number of Delta variant cases in the city is now at 58.
According to City Health Office medical officer Dr. Ted Yu, 16 of the new Delta cases were males and the other 11 cases were females.
The youngest is 10 years old, while the oldest is 86 years old.
Of the 27 new Delta variant cases, 17 are clinically recovered, five are active cases currently staying at the city's Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility, three have their results read negative, and two are dead.
Yu said the sample of these 27 Delta cases were obtained on August 6 to 11.
One of the mortalities was a resident of Barangay Macasandig while the other was from Barangay Bugo. The other 25 Delta cases were from Barangays Carmen (4), Indahag (1), Cugman (2), Nazareth (1), Barangay 30 (7), Gusa (2), Upper Balulang (1), Balulang (1), Bonbon (1), Barangay 25 (1), Barangay 10 (1), Puntod (1), Barangay 11 (1), and Camaman-an (1).
According to Yu, the seven from Barangay 30 are workers of a construction company.
"When we received the report, nag-activate na tayo kaagad ng contact tracing as advised by the Department of Health," Yu said.
Contact tracing is still ongoing, he added.
