OUT of 1,500 police aspirants, only 806 have passed the stringent recruitment process and were sworn-in on Monday, before the police chief in Northern Mindanao.
Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb, regional director of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), administered the oath taking of new police recruits who are to lead the fight against criminality, corruption, terrorism, and illegal drugs to ensure public safety and security across the region.
The new police recruits will have a temporary status of police officer 1. They will receive a basic salary of P29,688, which is similar to the regular police officers holding the same rank.
From said number, 596 are males and 210 are females. All of them have successfully passed the screening process.
PRO-Northern Mindanao spokesperson Surki Serenas said the recruitment process was so rigorous as applicants have underwent strict background investigation.
"The screening process is basically the same except for the background investigation which is continuous undergoing scrutiny. Even after appointment, background investigation will continue," Serenas said.
Serenas said a police trainee could be separated or dismissed from the service if found to have been linked or involved in threat groups, illegal drugs, and other crimes.
After the oath-taking ceremony, the police recruits were turned over to the Regional Training Center-Northern Mindanao for the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC).
The trainees will undergo academic training, Internal Security Operations and defense tactics for six months.
After completing the 6-month training in PSBRC, they will further undergo another six months field training program in the different provincial or city police offices as part of their community immersion.
