Buildings database created in Cagayan de Oro

THE Office of the Building Official (OBO) has created a new database containing information about all buildings in Cagayan de Oro City to make it easier for people to do business in the city.

OBO chief said offices spend much time, effort, and money to obtain documents or information from different agencies, but the database will allow access to any information about a building that a person needs.

She said its newest Building Inventory and Safety Division will be responsible in developing the database this year.

"We have annual inspection but we have no proper database for easy access. So now we have this, so that all of the buildings that our teams inspected will be included in our Geographical Information System," she said.

Once the database is available, businessmen will easily know if a certain building is complying with ordinances or not, making sure that the building is safe.

Mayor Oscar Moreno earlier said that OBO should level up to respond to the challenges by learning new innovations and strategies, and help make the city more competitive and attractive to investors.
