MAYOR Oscar Moreno said he intends to buy two more thermal scanners in anticipation of the resumption of operations of Laguindingan airport and the port and bus terminals in Cagayan de Oro.
Moreno said he already authorized the purchase of two thermal scanners last Friday, May 15, as he anticipates the influx of passengers in the airport, Macabalan port and bus terminals in Agora and Westbound, Bulua.
He added that he received a letter from the management of the Philippine Port Authority (PPA) requesting for thermal scanners.
"Kay ang advantage ani nga thermal scanner is dili na nimo i-thermal gun, isa-isahon. kini sya molabay ka lang, makuhaan ka na niya og temperature and then ang makina na mismo ang mo-signal sa operator nga kana sya naa nay fever," Moreno said.
The thermal scanner, which will be acquired from Ireland, has a "very high" accuracy rate, he added.
"Ako lagi instruction palit pa tag duha ka buok kay lagi we anticipate improved traffic sa pantalan and even sa airport and even sa atong bus terminals," Moreno said.
Despite the plan to acquire two more thermal scanners, Moreno reminded the public of the minimum public health standards, which include staying at home, social distancing, and wearing of face mask.
Last month, the City Government purchased two thermal scanners (brand: Satir) worth around P2 million each. The scanners' system functions include: online monitoring for rapid temperature measurement, multilevel distribution, mobile app, archives management, health archives management, and data statistics report.
The equipment also consists of thermal camera, black body, tripod, wall bracket, Samsung LED TV, software program, desktop computer with 2TB hard drive, and network cable connectors.
