THE City Health Office (CHO) of Cagayan de Oro has traced around eight people in the city who visited the cockfighting derby at the New Davao Matina Gallera last March 12.
CHO epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said during a regular press conference on coronavirus disease (Covid-19) updates on Saturday, April 11, that they have conducted contact tracing and initially traced three people.
Among the three people, Retuya added, were the promoter and the bet taker in the cockfight.
He further said that they are still looking for four more persons from Barangay Canitoan and one in Barangay Lapasan who allegedly attended the derby.
"With Barangay Canitoan, we already have the names that were sent to us by the barangay captain and whoever gave us the information and we thank you for that information," Retuya said.
Retuya said they are sure that the four people from Barangay Canitoan went to the derby.
However, he added, they did not exhibit any unusual signs or symptoms of the virus as of the moment.
"We have to remember that the event happened on March 12 and has already been almost a month. Meaning to say, tomorrow will be one month but we still are going back to the 14 days that they come home in Cagayan de Oro," Retuya said.
"It has to be clear to everyone that the event happened March 12 but we are still doing our contact tracing as early as last week," Retuya added.
