City Council to investigate DPWH road project for 'irregularity'

THE Cagayan de Oro City Council's committee as a whole will investigate the alleged irregularity in a road concreting project in barangay Bulua, Cagayan de Oro.

In his special report, City Councilor Zaldy Ocon said some residents complained that a road project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) did not follow their agreed plan.

Ocon said a series of public consultations were conducted with residents, affected lot owners, barangay officials, and zone leaders, to discuss the project.

"According to the complaint, what was concreted was a different road instead of the road originally agreed in the consultation. What was cemented was the road traversing to a politician's house," Ocon said.

Ocon said the project has irked residents especially property owners in the area.

Ocon did not identify the said politician who is reportedly running for mayor.

The committee as a whole will meet next week, inviting the DPWH and involved parties to discuss the complaint.
