City Hall extends business tax payment deadline

THE City Council of Cagayan de Oro on Monday, April 20, moved to extend the deadline for the payment of business taxes in the second quarter.

In a letter dated on April 17, Mayor Oscar Moreno requested for the extension of the second quarter deadline of business taxes payment from April 20 to May 20.

The request was made due to the entire country, at present, is placed under the State of Calamity due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) threat.

According to the Local Revenue Code of Cagayan de Oro City, local business taxes shall be paid once within the first 20 days of January or in quarterly installments within the first 20 days of January, April, July, and October annually.

Payment outside of the aforementioned deadlines will earn a surcharge of 25 percent and a penalty of two percent per month.
