AMBUSH survivor Police Superintendent Michael John Deloso is expected to report for duty on Thursday, January 10, the day after his medical leave ends.
Superintendent Surki Serenas, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao, said the leave of absence of Deloso will lapse on Wednesday, January 9.
Serenas said it was Deloso's physician who determines the length of recovery period which will also correspond how long the leave will last.
"Although Deloso is on medical leave, he is still on active duty status. There is no truth that he has gone Awol," Serenas said.
"Declaring a personnel Awol is not arbitrary or whimsical. We are also bound by the civil service laws and regulations. Police officers are also government employees," he added.
Serenas said should Deloso fail to report, series of notices will be sent to him.
"There will be series of notification. After series of notices to the concerned party, the Administrative Officer will recommend to the RD (regional director) of the courses of action his office deems appropriate based on existing law," Serenas said.
"It is going to take a tedious legal process before the Awol case becomes official. Deloso is a well-rounded officer. He is aware of the repercussions of his actions," he added.
