SOME 30 village officials in Claveria, Misamis Oriental who were brought to the different hospitals for stomach ache and vomiting while attending a training at a resort in Initao town late last week, were already safe and discharged from the hospitals, an interior department official said on Tuesday, September 4.
Provincial Director Edward Bahgwani of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Misamis Oriental, said 30 barangay leaders were among the 265 participants who attended the training on governance initiated by DILG.
"Mga barangay officials sila from Claveria nga nag-training. Ang 30 kabuok nagreklamo sa panakit sa tiyan, pagsuka ug kalibanga but ok na sila and nakauli na," Bahgwani said.
(They were barangay officials from Claveria who were on a training. All
of them complained of stomach pains, vomiting and diarrhea but they're all ok now and have returned home.)
Bahgwani said the nationwide activity was a mandatory training for officials who just won the barangay elections.
The three-day training was held last August 30 to September 1. The incident happened on the second day.
Rhanndy Akut, Chief of the Misamis Oriental Cares System (MisOr Cares), said the result of the laboratory examination to determine the cause is not yet out.
The MisOr Cares assisted the victims in terms of other needs such as transportation, water and extra beds.
"Ang MisOr Cares ang nag-assist kay ang uban hospitals that time is puno but as to the medical findings kung unsa ang cause ang mga doctor ra gyud maka-confirm kay wala pa may result sa examination," Akut said.
(MisOr Cares assisted them because other hospitals then were full. As to the medical findings as to the cause of the incident, it will be the doctor who will confirm it. We don't have the result of the examination yet)
