A BUSINESSMAN and former mayor of Kadingilan town in Bukidnon was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen inside his car at lane 101, Mastersons Avenue, near a mall in Upper Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City, on Saturday, December 22.
Police identified the victim as Joelito Jacosalem "Jukens" Talaid who was believed to have just bought fruits in the area.
Talaid was on board his vehicle when gunned down by riding-in-tandem suspects.
The victim succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators are still looking at the motives of the incident as they gather evidences that would lead to the identification of the perpetrators.
"Maraming anggulo pero hindi pa natin ma-disclose, we need to investigate," police said.
Police also launched a hot pursuit operations to capture the suspects on board a red XRM motorcycle.
Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno condemns the senseless and barbaric killing of the former Kadingilan mayor.
Moreno said he has called the attention of Cagayan de Oro Police Office (Cocpo) director Senior Superintendent Nelson Aganon and urged police to solve it immediately.
"Cruel and treacherous acts like this killing have no place whatsoever in any decent and peace loving community, especially in special seasons like Christmas," Moreno said.
Moreno also called on anyone who may have information about the shooting incident to come forward. He said he will coordinate closely with police and other law enforcement authorities to possibly form composite groups and expedite the case resolution.
It can be recalled that Talaid survived an ambushed in Don Carlos town in May 2013.
He was also on board his vehicle when he and his bodyguards were stopped by armed men. He was shot in his left leg and was forced to give his P7 million cash to the suspects.
