LAWYER Dale Mordeno said Cagayan de Oro Mayor Oscar Moreno may be facing more than 100 cases in his six years in office but none of them, he said were true.
Mordeno, Moreno's lawyer said, half of the cases pertain to the rental of heavy equipment when Moreno was still governor.
Of the 53 heavy equipment cases, eight criminal cases were dismissed, 24 administrative cases have injunction. Only about 20 remain unresolved.
From the recently dismissed Ajinomoto tax settlement case, PhilHealth membership, to Moreno's school projects, all of which were questioned by critics.
"Kining mga kaso ni mayor puros lang jud ni tumo-tumo. Whatever that is, wherever it is presented, sa Ombudsman, Office of the President, Facebook, Twitter, tanan kana tumo-tumo mao nga hag-as man mi makadaog kung sayop pami," Mordeno said.
(The cases filed against Moreno are not true. Whatever it is, wherever it is presented, may it be at the Ombudsman, Office of the President, Facebook, Twitter, all of them are not true. We won't win if we are wrong.)
"How can I be comfortable in defending the mayor if I know that the mayor is wrong? Kada makadawat kog sumbong, makaingon ko hinangal ba (every time I receive complaints against him, I can say that it is silly)," he added.
With this amount of cases, Moreno quipped he might write a book about his life as a mayor, when he retires.
"Ang ilang ga-buhaton taga-semana mag file ug kaso sa ako. On one hand, mag-file og kaso, sunod muingon sila nga daghan kaso pero sila ra gud naghimo," he said.
(They usually file a case every week to me. After filing the cases they will say that there are a lot of cases against the mayor but in fact they are the only one's who filed those cases.)
Moreno blames his predecessor, former mayor Vicente "Dongkoy" Emano, and his son, incumbent Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente "Bambi" Emano as the masterminds that allegedly orchestrated these cases.
Moreno hopes the remaining cases will all be dismissed, following the dismissal of the Ajinomoto settlement case.
"This experience has changed my relationship with the people and I am thankful that they stayed with me," he said.
