A P5,000 penalty was imposed on the operator of a Bugo-liner jeepney whose driver was accused of refusal to convey passengers.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Northern Mindanao also reprimanded the driver who was identified as Leo Palomar when he and the female complainant met at the LTFRB regional office.
The complainant lodged her complaint via social media after having been asked to step down from the jeepney on Saturday, March 7, even if she has not reached her destination yet.
LTFRB-Northern Mindanao Director Aminoden Guro asked the driver and the complainant to appear in his office to settle the issue. The operator also came.
Guro said the operator, being ultimately responsible, will have to pay a penalty of P5,000 for his driver's "refusal to convey passengers."
The driver, on the other hand, denied the accusation and blamed the dispatcher whom he said was the one who told passengers to step down and transfer to other vehicles.
But Guro said the culpability of the dispatcher rests on the shoulders of the driver and ultimately with the operator.
