MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano shrugged off questions on the release of the mid-year bonus, saying there are only a handful of Capitol employees who are complaining about the supposed delay.
Emano assured employees that they will receive their midyear bonus "in time."
"Kini lang pipila nga wala makasabot sa balaod. Ang balaod nag-ingon nga May 15, and four times consecutive nga very satisfactory ang rating. Kining uban, wala lantawa nga naay ubang empleyado nga dili very satisfactory ang rating," he said.
"But of course, they will be able to receive that in time, the money is there, the funds are there," he added.
Emano pointed out that when he first assumed as governor, he increased the employees' salary of up to five times within six years.
The governor also hinted that some employees have already "sold" their salary, this is why some are keen on receiving their bonuses immediately.
"Ang tinuod bitaw, you know why some are questioning sa mid year, kay nabaligya naman nila, unya karon, ga-singlon sila sa ilang gibaligyaan sa sweldo," he said.
"Ang pangutana, sala ba namo nga kamo nagbaligya sa ilang sweldo? Dili. Ka-lima na ta nag increase ug sweldo sugod sa atong pag-lingkod, hangtod karon dili pa gihapon igo. It's not anymore the problem of salary, it's the problem of a lifestyle. They are spending more than what they are earning," he added. (PJ Orias)
