MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano is backing the proposal of board member Frederick Khu to look into the allegations that 'ghost employees' exist in the capitol's legislative branch.
Emano said whether Khu's suggestion, raised through a privilege speech at the plenary came out of hearsays and gossip from concerned citizens, still has to be looked into to clear the Provincial Board as an institution.
"I think bisan dinhi sa lalawigan a mere hearsa has to be looked into anyway kung confident ang Sangguniang Panlalawigan nga wala makalipyo pud sa ngalan kay nahisgutan na baya," Emano said.
The capitol's top official said the best committee that will look into the matter is the members of the provincial board themselves.
Emano said he has not been meddling how the provincial board runs, manages or hires their workers.
"Sa pagsugod ni Vice Governor Joey Pelaez dili gyud ko gapanghilabot sa ilang pagpadagan, how they managed or how they hire ang ilang mga empleyado," he said.
Board member Gerardo Sabal said he considers the words of the governor and would wait for the collective move of the body and the majority's decision.
Sabal said the initiative to look into Khu's concern should come from the vice governor.
"It has to come from the chairman of the SP and I will support kay ako isa ra ko ka tingog diha. Walay problema sa ako because I have nothing to hide," Sabal said.
Sabal also said he is willing to ask all his field and office staffs to appear to have their identities checked.
The majority bloc of the Provincial Board over the weekend issued a two-page statement which categorically states that ghost workers do not exist in the legislative body because of the stringent process and requirement the workers have to undergo before being appointed.
