A TOP official of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao has vowed to continue a health program to compel obese police personnel to stay fit and healthy so they can perform their sworn duties effectively.
PRO-Northern Mindanao director Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb said the Philippine National Police (PNP)'s "Slim Possible Program" will continue in 2019.
"More than material things, the greatest thing of value to men is health. No amount of money will bring back good health when you lost it. Hence, I ordered a health program aligned with the PNP Slim Possible Program for our personnel Northern Mindanao," Pacleb said.
"Good health will always be a gift because healthy people are wealthy people. Hence, we will aim for tip-top health this coming 2019," he added.
Pacleb has personally handpicked obese policemen from across the region while doing his rounds and ordered them to undergo the 15-day weight loss program.
The first batch of 25 police personnel shed a total of 246 pounds (lbs) with the biggest loser shedding off around 17 lbs. in 15 days.
"The positive response from the participants pushes us to continue the program," program in-charge Fe Quijada said.
Quijada said more personnel have showed interest when they saw the positive results in the participants.
"This is such a breakthrough initiative from no less than Police Chief Superintendent Pacleb that we must continue because it helps us to be healthy and fit as we perform our job," she added.
