THE Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) has registered one admission and three deaths on Sunday, June 7, medical specialist Dr. Bernard Rocha reported.
Admitted was a 19-year-old male from Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro for community-acquired pneumonia (moderate risk). He was swabbed and tested and his result read negative.
A 58-year-old female from Barangay Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City who was admitted also died at the ER level. Her final diagnosis was acute respiratory failure, chronic kidney disease, and hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
Another death involved a 36-year-old male from outside Cagayan de Oro who figured in a vehicular incident.
Both were swabbed and tested and their results read negative, Rocha said.
The third death recorded at the NMMC was the 34-year-old female from Barangay Carmen who tested positive for the new virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
She was brought to the hospital at 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, due to fever and shortness of breathing.
Three days before she was brought to NMMC, she already experienced an onset of abdominal pain with vomiting and she took unknown medication with no consultation from the doctor.
The woman also lost consciousness en route to the hospital and was declared "dead on arrival" at 10:29 p.m. Her cause of death was acute respiratory failure secondary to Covid-19 infection.
A total of 10 close contacts were identified, according to City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya. Among them were her father and sister-in-law.
