FOUR patients have were admitted at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) died over the weekend, medical specialist Bernard Rocha reported on Monday, May 4.
Among those who died was a four-month-old male who, according to Rocha, was already in a critical condition upon admission.
He was one of the trans-in patients or patients who were transferred from the surgical ICU to the Erid ward after learning that one of the patients in the ICU, the 21-year-old male, turned out to be positive of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Another trans-in patient is a 31-year-old female who died due to complications after giving birth and existing congenital heart disease.
The other two deaths are a 25-year-old female, another OB case, who died due to incomplete miscarriage complications, and a 68-year-old male who was admitted due to community-acquired pneumonia and diabetes.
Meanwhile, the number of patients admitted at the NMMC increased by two, with the total now at 17.
The two new admissions are a 64-year-old male who was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia, heart problem, and chronic kidney disease; and an 88-year-old male who was also diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia and acute coronary syndrome. The latter also experienced a heart attack.
Rocha said all of the patients, both admitted and dead, were swabbed for Covid-19 testing. The samples have been delivered to the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao on Monday, May 4.
