THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) in Northern Mindanao cautioned the public about individuals allegedly collecting fees to facilitate the issuance of Philhealth identification cards.
In a statement, Philhealth Area Vice President for Mindanao Datu Masiding Alonto Jr. said these individuals are posing as intermediaries to its clients.
These people allegedly operate online.
Alonto reminded the public that PhilHealth only releases ID cards through these following rules they strictly impose, first, PhilHealth IDs will only be released only to the member upon presentation of valid identification documents. No authorization will be honored for ID issuance.
Second, Member Data Record (MDR) will only be released to Philhealth members. In case when the member is admitted in the hospital, a representative may be authorized to request for the MDR, given that he or she submits the necessary requirements.
"The public is hereby informed that we do not charge any fees for the issuance of the Philhealth ID cards and MDR to legitimate members. Kindly transact only at the nearest Local Health Insurance Office or to any Philhealth Business Center in your localities," he said.
"Please immediately report any similar unscrupulous activities to our Public Affairs Unit through email philhealth10pau@gmail.com or to any Philhealth Office near you," he added.
