SENATORIAL candidate Pia Cayetano over the weekend vowed to back the sports program of Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano especially his plans to construct a pragmatic sports center and his desire to host the Palarong Pambansa in 2022.
Cayetano met the Padayon Pilipino slate in the province on Saturday, January 26, and renewed their commitment of support for the May 2019 polls.
The incumbent 2nd district representative of Taguig City has committed to assist the governor in his programs for sports including the construction of a pragmatic sports center and the aspiration to host the Palarong Pambansa.
"It is equally my desire and dream to see sports facilities in every municipality in our country and why not in this province," Cayetano said.
"I will do anything in my capacity to assist Gov. Bambi to fulfill his dreams as governor of the province," she added.
Cayetano also said she can bring sports leaders and coaches to mentor the athletes in the province.
"This I can commit as early as now. I can bring in sports leaders and coaches for your sports program," Cayetano said.
The pragmatic sports center that Emano has envisioned is that various sports facilities are built in different towns of the province.
Emano said hosting the Palarong Pambansa would also boost the economic activity of the province.
"The vegetables, fruits and the fishermen's catch are sold in the province. People will be able to benefit and empowered because the idea also of hosting the Palarong Pambansa is actually to help our people," Emano said.
The capitol's top official is confident that Cayetano will make good of her promise once she gets back in the senate.
"I already ask her if she can help us and Misamis Oriental is close to her heart and she is not the kind of senator who will only come here during election. I can guarantee that she will never say no to the things that we need in the province in the future,"he added.
