THE Cagayan de Oro City Health Office (CHO) will conduct its serological prevalence survey in Barangay Carmen on Thursday (June 25).
Mayor Oscar Moreno said this would enable City Hall to conduct calibrated and "preemptive" interventions on coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the city.
"In conducting the serological prevalence survey, we hope to achieve at least two things. One, to determine the point prevalence rate (of Covid-19 infection) in an area in a given period of time and two to determine how many of the positives showed symptoms in the past two weeks," CHO resident epidemiologist Dr. Teodulfo Joselito Retuya said in Tuesday noon's (June 23) press briefing.
The survey, to be done in coordination with the Department of Health (DOH), will consist of rapid diagnostic tests conducted in tandem with reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests, both acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery and Dr. Retuya said.
Moreno said the survey signifies City Hall's preemptive and proactive stance in dealing with the Covid-19 menace which was not possible before due to the absence of testing facilities that were only acquired recently by the City, the DOH-Northern Mindanao and the Northern Mindanao Medical Center.
