CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno said Wednesday, March 17, that with the pace the city is going in terms of vaccination, they would be able to start the vaccination rollout for senior citizens by April.
As of March 17, a total of 6,003 frontline healthcare workers were inoculated against coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
The city, at present, has a utilization rate of 98 percent.
"Let's say ang atong sa city mga 6,000 plus na. By April puhon, tua na ta sa seniors kay ang atong target is 10,000," Moreno said.
"Kung i-double nimo nang 6,000, at the pace we are going, by April tua na ta sa seniors, magsugod na ta sa seniors," he added.
As for the vaccination rollout for the general, Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said they still do not have a specific timeframe.
"Wala tay gipanghawiran gyud karon nga concrete or specific na timeframe. As of now dili gyud ta og specific timeframe kung kanus-a moabot sa general public ang atong priority schedule," Nery said.
According to Moreno, they have "very little to do" in regard to the supply of the Covid-19 vaccines. While the city is in control of the vaccines it has ordered, it will be hard to depend on that as they are costly.
"If we decide, for instance, nga dili na ta mosalig sa national ug palit nata og ato, that is going to be very, very expensive sa ato," Moreno said.
"Sa demand, dako ang atong mahimo diha. mao nang atong i-improve. We cannot be contented and we should not be contented sa atong demand side," he added.
The mayor is hopeful that the city will be able to sustain its vaccination rollout performance.
