VALENCIA City Mayor Azucena Huervas has placed Barangay Lumbayao under strict enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from April 9 to 26 as a preventive measure to contain the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the city.

In his Executive Order No. 31, Huervas ordered the effectivity of the strict ECQ starting 6 p.m. of April 9 until 6 p.m. of April 26 after the confirmation of a Covid-positive case in the village on Thursday, April 9.

It is the first Covid-19 positive case in Bukidnon.

According to Huervas, the patient is an official of Barangay Lumbayao who was one of the 427 people who visited the New Davao Matina Gallera cockpit in Davao City on March 12.

The said barangay official also had contacts with other residents since his arrival from the derby.

Under the EO 31, operation of all public and private vehicles in Barangay Lumbayao is temporarily suspended except for emergency vehicles; delivery trucks carrying basic necessities, prime commodities, and agricultural products; AFP and PNP vehicles; buses, trucks and other vehicles sanctioned by the City Government for relief operations; and all other vehicles authorized by the city mayor.

The Philippine National Police (PNP), together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other security personnel, are securing the borders of Barangay Lumbayao to ensure that only authorized persons are allowed entry and exit from the area.

The city mayor also ordered the mandatory wearing of face masks and extreme social distancing for all government personnel and frontline workers who are authorized to enter the area as well as residents authorized to go out of the residence.

All residents of Barangay Lumbayao are ordered to stay at home, the EO added.

The City Government, meanwhile, ensured the systematic delivery of food, other basic necessities and medicines to the residents of the said village.
