NESTLE Philippines will have the chance to reach the finals when it battles Team Bongmarc in the semifinal round of the 2018 Ballpals Pre-Christmas tournament Friday afternoon, November 30, at barangay 40 covered court.
But whether Nestle's 6-foot-4 center Jojo Mahistrado is already fit to play will be known in their 2:30 p.m. knockout showdown with the tough butt injury-prone Team Bongmerc.
The towering Mahistrado was the missing link of Nestle's campaign in the elimination round, owing to a minor shoulder injury of their battle-scarred center.
"It's really difficult to face Nestle with Mahistrado around. But with or without him we're all ready to do battle in the semis round," said Team Bongmarc's spirited leader Michael 'Jason Kidd' Mercado.
The winner will challenge the undefeated Team Wengmarc for the 40-up crown set on Saturday, December 1 at Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Center.
This, as Team Sumanga and Team Galanida will dispute the coveted crown in the 39-below division.
"Actually, tulo kini sila nag-tie sa 39-below after the double elimination round. Walay swerte ang Team Wabvan ang natagak sa quotient tiebreak," said tournament overseer Andit Mendoza. (LLS)
