WINNING titles have become quite a habit for the new club, the Cagayan de Oro United Football Club (CDO United FC), in the City of Golden Friendship.

CDO United FC won their second major title this year, the U15 crown in the biggest football festival of the country, the Ceres Cup at the booming Talisay City, Negros Occidental, just in the neighborhood of the capital city of Bacolod.

CDO United FC, backed by players from Rosevale School, finished the elimination round with a 3-1 slate winning against Classico de San Carlos, 2-0, Bacong FC A, 4-0, and Bacolod Young Booters (BYB) B, 7-1. This only setback was from the hands of Don Bosco Cebu A, 2-3.

The Oro lads then nipped Pag-asa Iloilo, 1-0 and then avenged their elimination round loss to Don Bosco Cebu A with a, 2-0, win in the semis to arrange a titular showdown with Bacolod Youth Booters team A.

CDO United then did not take things lightly against BYB team A as the Oro lads pushed for an early lead and never looked back to score 2-0 win to capture the title.

Once again team captain Lyle Dy won the MVP award for leading the Oro lads. It was his second MVP award this year after capturing the award in the Thirsty Cup in Cebu City last February.

He was supported by JL Cascara, John Gementiza, Ino Butaslac, Dave Mendoza, Zac Orate, Dale Anoya, July Vicente, Luigi Awayon, Francis Mendoza, and Ivan Rosales. Team coach was Mario Sumampong.

CDO United was formed by football parents of Rosevale School to help support the football program of the school. The main supporters of the club are Charles and Menchu Dy, Jeff Cascara, Aldwin Gementiza, Queenie Gementiza, Vince Manubag, Ian Lugod, Marlon Casas, Tita Casas, and Gigi Gonzales.

The club is organizing the 2nd Friendship Cup Football Festival set on June 29 at the Rasevale School football grounds in Xavier Estates. The tournament is a fund raising for the football scholars of Rosevale School.
