OPOL Eagles Club, doggedly assembling some of the best 40-up players in the locality, went on to rule the inter-ballclub championship of the Xavier Heights Fiesta League 2019 concluded here, over the weekend.
With the fabled five composed of Christopher Carretas, Jayson Alfeche, Owen Ubay-Ubay, Gilbert Magdugo, and Cyrus Diango leading the charge, the Opol Eagles of playing coach Gerardo Tamayo overpowered the youth-laden Xavier Heights Ballclub Team A, 77-65 to pocket the P10,000 top purse and the championship trophy.
"It's not easy to beat them kay naa silay mga batan-on, though advantage sa amo maayo kaayo mag-motivate among playing coach (GAT Tamayo) wala ka nang hahanapin pa," said Carretas after receiving his MVP award.
The Pagaran-led Southern Philippine College (SPC) Sharks of coach Rey-Kris Dangcal took the inter-collegiate division crown at the expense of Lourdes College.
The week-long tourney was sponsored by the Xavier Heights Homeowners Association Inc. and Xavier Heights Basketball Club under the leadership of Arvin Martinez in cooperation of the Barangay and SK Council of Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City.
XHBC president Dr. Wilbourne Neri handed over the awards to the winners as well as giving a token to all coaches of the participating teams.
