Guest team XUHS Saints had a rude welcome in their ABA hoopfest debut at the hands from no less than their Batch 1991's mother team.
Showing no mercy, the `91 Spartans clobbered the `91 Saints, 76-40 with former Cebu-South Western University standout Owen Ubay-Ubay and Stan Borromeo knocking in 20 and 19 points each.
"Actually, wala ko nalipay sa among pagdaug kay ka batch ra namo amo kontra. Until now, wala pa ko kasabot," said pointguard Anton Pabillore, who dished out 10 assists and 6 points.
The Saints got 20 markers from the sweet-shooting Lito Magallanes.
"To be honest, among batch (1991) adik gyod sa basketball. Tanan gusto modula just for fun. So, peldi o daug oks ra sa amo no hurt feelings enjoy lang," the Saints guard Carlo Dagalea told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
With the original `91 Spartans on fire, also anchored by Atty. Llego, vice mayor Noble, Mike Galvez, Bong Gorospe, Gabor, Somo, Garcia, Dela Cerna, Waban and Verendia, the Saints could only wish to do better in their next game assignments. (LLS/VoxPop Cagayan de Oro)
