CEBU (Updated) -- Two children were found dead, while 10 were injured in the morning blaze that hit a residential area in Sitio Kawit, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, on Monday morning, May 7.

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Cebu City Fire Marshall Noel Nelson Ababon identified the two children as John Mark Digman and Jovielyn Digman.

Injured were Ida Alolod, Joel Digman, Jennelyn Digman,Jovin Alolod, Edwina Alolod, Sandra Echavez, and Inday Echavez, all with second degree burns, while Tirso Gucela and Rachael Napare got first degree burns, and Jennelyn Wagas with laceration on her left hand.

According to Ababon, the fire started at 5:46 a.m. when a gas tank exploded in the cooking area located at the ground floor of the house owned by Ida Alolod.

It was raised to Task Force Bravo at 6:24 a.m.

Damage was pegged at P1.5 million.

All firetrucks from the Cebu City Fire Station, neighboring cities, municipalities and Cebu City Fire Volunteers responded. (JOB/VoxPop Cebu)
