LOCAL police said they would need to secure Camp Crame's approval before they could provide the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) with documents related to officers killed in police operations.
"Kon gusto sila mangayo, mananghid mi sa Crame," Central Visayas Police director Debold Sinas said Friday, June 29, in response to CHR's complaint on the lack of information about the slain officers. The Philippine National Police's headquarters is located at Camp Crame.
On Wednesday morning, June 27, controversial Senior Police Officer 1 Adonis Dumpit was killed in an encounter with operatives from the Regional Intelligence Division (RID)-Central Visayas and National Bureau of Investigation-Bohol in Barangay San Isidro, Tagbilaran City.
Last June 10, Senior Inspector Raymond Hortezuela was killed in an alleged shootout with the operatives of Counter Intelligence Task Force and RID-Central Visayas.
Two other police officers were shot dead by unidentified assailants--PO3 Jonathan Tilos last June 13 and PO2 Melchizedek Batomalaque last June 19.
The special investigation task group of Cebu Provincial Police Office convened on Friday, June 29, to discuss the developments of their inquiries on the deaths of Batomalaque and Tilos. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
