THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 7 responded to a smoke alarm detected on the fourth floor of Super Metro department store inside the Pacific Mall in Mandaue City past noon yesterday. The alarm was received at 12:15 p.m.
The smoke reportedly came from the stockroom. The sprinklers were activated and the store's emergency response team responded. The team used water hoses to put out the fire. Employees and customers were evacuated and no one was injured. The BFP 7 declared the fire out at 1:30 p.m. The store and the mall temporarily halted its operations but are set to return to normal operations at 9 a.m. today, according to a statement of the Metro Retail Stores Group, Inc. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. (JOB)
