A MAN was found dead, his face covered with cloth and his body tied to an electric post, in Sitio Bogo, Barangay Kampo 4, Talisay City, Friday, July 26.
The man, identified as Jerh Sigue, 27, a resident of Barangay Lawaan 2, Talisay City, had a gunshot wound in the body.
A paper board, with markings "Undang na lage mo ug dili gane kamo na isunod. Tulisan, drug pusher og killer, drug lords (You better stop or else you will be next. Robbers, drug pushers and killers, drug lords)," was attached to Sigue's body.
Residents found Sigue around 5 a.m. Friday, July 26, a day after another man, identified as Jimbo Gadiano, was found dead in Barangay Lagtang.
Gadiano was found hogtied Thursday morning, July 25.
Last Monday, July 22, Renante Otero, 44, was also found dead, his body hanged in a bridge in Barangay San Isidro.
Police are still investigating the incidents, but Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas and Talisay City Police Station Chief Orlando Carag Jr. said there are no vigilantes in the city.
"Walay vigilante sa Dakbayan sa Talisay (There are no vigilantes in Talisay City)," said Gullas.
Carag said police are looking into the involvement of illegal drug groups in the series of killings in Talisay.
He said the groups might just want to mislead the public and the police, who are probing the incidents.
Carag and Gullas assured the public that Talisay City is a safe place for those who are not engaged in any illegal activities.
"Peaceful ang Talisay City sa mga walang ginagawang masama. Sa mga may masasamang ginagawa or gagawin, lalo na 'pag nakipag-encounter sila sa mga tao namin (police), we are ready to face them," Carag said. (From Arnold Y. Bustamante and Fe Marie Dumaboc of Supervoxpop Cebu/LMY/VoxPop Philippines)
