The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) in Central Visayas said there are no pending cases in their office for arbitration.
NLRC-7 Presiding Commissioner Violeta Bantug announced during the Regional Coordinating Council meeting of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and its attached agencies, that their office is enjoying a zero backlog and no pending case loads.
Bantug said that this is consistent on their mandate of speedy disposition of cases filed by workers against their employers.
Bantug said that for five straight years now, from 2014 to 2018, the NLRC 7th Division has been achieving zero backlog, which is a big help to the working sector.
NLRC 7 is a quasi-judicial body composed of Bantug, representing the public sector; Commissioner Julie Rendoque representing the management; and Commissioner Hanz Abella representing the workers.
Bantug said NLRC is attached to DOLE solely for program and policy coordination.
"It is mandated to resolve disputes in the fairest, quickest, less expensive and most effective way possible. It's jurisdiction is to administer regular appeals from the decision of arbiter, decision of DOLE regional director under the Labor Code," Bantug said.
The NLRC also have jurisdiction over certified cases, injunction cases, both under the Labor Code; and those they called extra-ordinary remedy of cases under Rule 12 of the 2011 Rules of Procedure, as amended.
She added the NLRC has eight divisions and the 7th Division based in Cebu City exercises exclusive jurisdiction over appealed cases from three regional arbitration branches in the entire Visayas. (EOB)
