THE new Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Central Visayas director started his first day in office Wednesday, August 8, and said he was assigned in the region to implement laws.
Superintendent Lito Patay said their job is to arrest criminals and solve high-profile cases.
"Wala may dapat planohan ang paglingkod sa CIDG. Una, di gyod na trabaho namo paghimo og plan kay naa na may plano daghan ang PNP (Philippine National Police). So sa tasking sa CIDG manakop og wanted, mga organized crimes...pagdakop sa mga nag-possess og loose firearms," he said.
When asked about Cebuano businessman Peter Lim, who was tagged as a drug lord by President Rodrigo Duterte, Patay said he does not know him.
"Di man ko aware ni Peter Lim. Unsa diay na siya, Ma'am," Patay replied to a question asked by a female reporter.
Patay, 44, began his first day in office by meeting his top personnel. He came from CIDG Central Luzon before his transfer to Central Visayas.
The police official, a native of Enrique Villanueva, Siquijor, is a graduate of Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1997. His first assignment was at the Provincial Mobile Group of Davao Del Norte Provincial Police Office after his graduation.
Patay became station commander of several police units in Davao del Norte before he was transferred to Batasan Police Station in Quezon City in 2016.
He admitted that CIDG in Central Visayas still lacks personnel, but it cannot stop them from going after criminals. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
