THE top police official in Central Visayas has told the regional police chaplain to talk with the Redemptorist priest who claimed that alleged death squad members were looking for him earlier this month.
Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas said he is hoping that Rev. Amado Picardal of Our Mother of Perpetual Help-Redemptorist in Cebu City will talk with chaplain Superintendent Raynaldo Piañar.
Sinas said he is willing to give Picardal security, saying the police will be blamed if something bad will happen to the priest.
He said Cebu City Police Office Director Royina Garma has not received a report about the threat on Picardal.
The priest has been identified as a critic of President Rodrigo Duterte. Picardal wrote in his blog that he opted not to go out in public after Redemptorist monastery workers saw motorcycle-riding men watching the compound three times this month.
Security guards Prudencio Entrecoso and Ludigario Panonce, however, said they do not remember seeing motorcycle-riding men in the compound. (KAL)
