THE Police Regional Office (PRO) in Central Visayas clarified on Wednesday afternoon, June 27, that Senior Police Officer 1 Adonis Dumpit was not the target of a drug bust.
Superintendent Reyman Tolentin, PRO-Central Visayas information office chief, said Dumpit was intercepted after authorities received a tip that he was carrying illegal drugs while driving his motorcycle.
The operatives from Regional Intelligence Division and National Bureau of Investigation tried to stop Dumpit, but the police officer reportedly engaged them in a shootout.
The spot report relayed by PRO-Central Visayas on Wednesday morning, June 27, stated that Dumpit was the subject of "buy-bust that resulted in a shootout."
