SKYLER Abatayo was the four-year-old boy who was caught in the drug war's crossfire when the police were running after four drug personalites last July in Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita.
He is a collateral damage in the drug war and many people have been calling for justice to be served.
During the All Saints' Day, Thursday, November 1, at Abatayo's final resting place in Carreta Public Cemetery, a purple candle was lit by a stranger, Rosario Mabanto.
Mabanto is not a family member, nor a friend of Abatayo's family. In fact, she never met the Abatayos.
Mabanto said that she was there to pray for justice and peace for the bereaved family.
A while later, Abatayo's godmother May-May arrived and also offered three white candles and a small basket of white chrysanthemums and red roses she arranged herself. It was her way of remembering Abatayo.
May-May said that Skyler was a happy and respectful kid.
Abatayo was studying in their house when police raided a shanty where an alleged repacking of shabu was taking place. He was hit by a stray bullet. (RTF)
