WITH less than a year before the next election, former Cebu City mayor Michael Rama announced that he will be running as vice mayor, while incumbent Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella will run as mayor for Cebu City next year.
The Rama-Labella tandem will be the official candidates of opposition group Barug Team Rama.
In a phone interview, Rama confirmed the matter, saying his decision was guided with discernment and mission to take back City Hall.
"Kada adlaw, dili lalim akong gi-agian, sige ko'g huna-huna, thinking where will I be. At the end of the day, akong gitan-aw nga di mana mahimo nga akong awayon akong partner," he told VoxPop Cebu.
Rama pointed out that public service is not about the position, that is why the group decided to let Labella run for mayor.
"I will run whatever position available that I can be of service because it's always been service above self," he said.
The former mayor said "servanthood is not about superiority."
Rama said he consulted his leaders and other political leaders about the decision and the set-up is the only way for them to be united.
So far, the administration group, Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan, has yet to announce their line-up for the next election. (RVC/VoxPop Cebu)
