THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA 7) Seaport Interdiction Unit intercepted a package containing three kilos of dried marijuana inside the warehouse of a package forwarding company in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City on Thursday morning, Dec. 5, 2024.
The package came from the National Capital Region.
Leia Alcantara, PDEA 7 information officer, said their Seaport Interdiction Unit discovered the marijuana during its random K9 inspection on the parcels that arrived in Cebu on Thursday.
She added that a police dog stopped in one of the packages, which made them suspicious of the package.
The inspectors then checked the package and discovered three blocks of dried marijuana, each block weighing about one kilo. It has an estimated average market value of P360,000.
The contraband was turned over to the PDEA 7 Laboratory Office for proper disposition.
Alcantara said the package contains the names of the sender and the receiver whose names have been withheld by the PDEA 7 pending investigation.
She added that PDEA 7 will coordinate with their national office and the intended receiver of the package.
Suspects will be facing charges for violating Section 5, 26, Article 2 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. / AYB, WBS
