AIMING to produce more employment opportunities, the Lapu-Lapu City Public Employment Service Office (Peso) is planning to hold at least 11 jobs fair for 2025 which are set to begin in February.
In an interview on Monday, Jan. 20, Kim Francisco, Peso head, said his office targets to invite at least 20 to 25 local businesses to take part in the upcoming Valentine Job Fair on Feb. 14 at Gaisano Grand Plaza Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City.
“For the first time, we have planned a job fair that coincides with an event. We’ve scheduled it for Feb. 14 and I’m also interested in observing the behavior of the applicants,” said Francisco.
Francisco said Peso is inviting a variety of industries, including business process outsourcing companies, supermarkets, malls, and clothing stores, among others.
He said the participating businesses on Feb. 14 are expected to generate over 1,000 job vacancies.
Schedules
Six barangay jobs fair are also scheduled for the first quarter of 2025, from Feb. 28 to April 18. These include the barangays of Punta Engaño, Agus, Basak, Pajac, Maribago, and Canjulao.
The second quarter will feature two major jobs fair: the Kadaugan Local and Overseas Job Fair on April 25 at Pueblo Verde and the Lapu-Lapu City College Job Fair on May 8 at Gaisano Grand Plaza Mactan.
For the third quarter, a job fair will be held on June 17 during Lapu-Lapu City Charter Day at Gaisano Grand Plaza Mactan.
Francisco said three organizations are expected to join during the third quarter schedule, pending confirmation.
The final job fair of the year, the Fiesta sa Lapu-Lapu Local and Overseas Job Fair, is scheduled for Nov. 7 at Pueblo Verde.
Francisco reminded applicants to bring their resumes, any available work and training certificates, and government-issued identification cards to the upcoming jobs fair.
In 2024, Peso organized 13 jobs fair, drawing a total of 4,332 applicants.
The government agency also successfully hired 1,191 individuals on the spot on the same year. (DPC)
