VENDORS and market-goers in Carbon Public Market who come from far-flung towns need not worry if they have to stay late or longer in the city as a sleeping quarter and pay showers are made available for them.
Such development was welcomed by some netizens, with them commending the project.
Starting Wednesday, October 25, 2023, vendors and even market-goers may now avail themselves of the 24-hour sleeping quarters at the third floor of the interim building in Carbon Public Market in Cebu City.
In a press release, Cebu2World Development Inc. (C2W), a subsidiary of Megawide Construction Corp., which is undertaking the redevelopment of the century-old Carbon Public Market, said there are 50 beds, with pillow and blanket provisions, available in the air conditioned sleeping quarters.
Those who want to avail themselves of the service will only pay P150 for beds on the upper deck and P200 for beds at the lower deck for an eight-hour use.
The pay showers, meanwhile, are fixed at P5 per minute.
Lockers are also available to secure the occupants items.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras are also installed in the reception area as an additional security feature.
On the Facebook page of VoxPop Cebu, netizens applauded the project, saying such was carefully thought of for the welfare of the vendors and market-goers, while some hope the project will be well-maintained.
One of the netizens said the project would be a big help for street vendors who will have to stay late at night.
Some hoped the place will be well-maintained in terms of cleanliness. (JJL with PR)
