THE woes of the Cebu Sharks-Casino Ethyl Alcohol continued as they fell to the Pasig Realtors, 68-78, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season on Wednesday evening, September 11, 2019, at the Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite.
Even with a new head coach manning the sidelines in former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) veteran Noynoy Falcasantos, the Sharks failed to get the job done as they couldn't complete defensive stops nor could they hit any three-pointers when it mattered the most in the fourth period.
Trailing by as much as 17 points, the Sharks rallied and pulled to within four, 63-67, after Kraniel Viloria completed a three-point play with 6:19 to go. However, that would be as close as Cebu would get as Josan Nimes hit a huge three-pointer from the right wing and then, snuck in a high-lopping floater to push Pasig's lead back to 10, 74-64, with 3:01 to go.
Pasig's win improved their win-loss record to 9-3 while Cebu fell further down the standings at 4-8.
Cebu's frontcourt carried the offense for the Sharks in this game as left-handed big man William McAloney led them with 20 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks. Forwards Edrian Lao and Rhaffy Octobre had 12 points apiece and combined for 20 rebounds.
The Sharks' perimeter marksmanship however, left a lot to be desired as they made just 3-of-19 from beyond the arc for a putrid 15 percent shooting clip.
Jeric Teng led Pasig with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Nimes came off the bench and scored 20.
