UNIVERSITY of the Philippines (UP) court general Jun Manzo was deemed the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Player of the Week after leading the Fighting Maroons to two straight wins in the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament.

The Fighting Maroons is having a historic season and the University of the Visayas product is a huge part of the reason why UP is headed to the semifinals as the second seed — a first for the school in the Final Four era.

In their last two wins, the crafty guard averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.5 rebounds, leading the Fighting Maroons towards history and proving himself worthy of the weekly plum.

Against La Salle on Sunday, October 27, the 5-foot-9 playmaker pumped in 11 points on top of eight assists and five rebounds in UP's 61-58 victory over the Green Archers.

"Unang-una, nagpapasalamat kami sa Panginoong Diyos sa binigay niyang panalo," said Manzo. "Siguro, kaya kami nanalo ngayon is sa dulo, maganda yung execution namin as a team.

Earlier in the week, Manzo had 14 points, four rebounds and three assists as UP squeaked by National University, 80-77. (JNP)
