REIGNING Cesafi MVP Rey Anthony Suerte sank a triple with 3.2 seconds left to push the University of the East Red Warriors past the vaunted La Salle Green Archers, 89-88, in the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Suerte, the pride of the University of the Visayas, scored the Red Warriors' last six points to help his team improve to 1-3. He finished the game with 31 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Down two, 88-86, with just three seconds to go, Suerte received a hand-off, rose up at the top of the arc and delivered the game-winning triple that sealed UE's first win of the season.
UE's win over La Salle is actually their very first since September 10, 2014 when they beat the Green Archers, 68-66. (VoxPop Cebu)
