THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao Region, through the Regional Election Monitoring Action Center (Remac), reported 142 cases of Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban violations.
Police operations, including buy-busts and search warrant executions, have led to 38 arrests.
PRO-Davao said that anyone caught with firearms without proper authorization from the electoral agency would face serious legal consequences.
Offenders will be charged with illegal possession of firearms and violating the Omnibus Election Code’s Gun Ban provisions, which strictly regulate firearm possession during the election period to ensure public safety and order. These violations carry severe penalties, and authorities are actively enforcing the regulations to prevent election-related violence.
