THE Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) reported that over 4,000 solo parents in Davao City have received their monthly cash assistance under the city’s Solo Parents Ordinance.
Karla Quintela, focal person for the Solo Parent Social Welfare Operations Division, said that as of Thursday, May 8, 2025, a total of 4,031 out of 6,806 active solo parent members have received their annual P1,000 subsidy.
“So ang for payout po nga district nabilin after election puhon is Talomo A, Toril A, Marilog, and Calinan (Districts still scheduled for payout after the election include Talomo A, Toril A, Marilog, and Calinan),” Quintela said during a briefing at the City Mayor’s Office.
The city currently has 224 registered solo-parent organizations. However, some solo parents have not renewed their Solo Parent IDs and are ineligible for the subsidy. Reasons include remarriage or children aging out of eligibility.
The Solo Parents Ordinance, an adaptation of Republic Act 8972, provides a monthly P1,000 cash aid to solo parents earning below minimum wage with dependent children aged zero to 22.
Eligible solo parents with an annual income under P250,000 and children aged 0 to 6 also receive a 10 percent discount on essentials like medicines, diapers, vitamins, and formula milk.
Solo parents are encouraged to apply at the nearest CSWDO district office. Requirements include original birth certificates of children, marriage or death certificate (if applicable), barangay certification, and a Certificate of No Marriage (Cenomar) for unmarried parents.
