THE Ateneo Superheroes Run will kick off on July 13 at SM City Davao in Ecoland, offering 3K, 5K, and 10K race categories for runners of all ages and levels, including families and first-timers.
Michael Delos Santos, representative of Ateneo Superheroes Run 2025, encouraged new runners to join, noting that while costumes are welcome, they’re not required. “The theme is superheroes, but runners don’t need to wear costumes. It’s about having fun with the idea that you can run alongside Spider-Man or Darna,” he said.
The 10K race will start at 4:30 a.m. near the Davao Global Township (DGT) in Matina, while 5K participants will turn around at the Ecoland Drive–MacArthur Highway intersection before heading back to SM City Davao.
Over 400 people have already registered, though the 5K and 10K categories are still open.
Proceeds from the run will support the Anak Kaugmaon Foundation, which provides medical care for indigenous children at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).
“We want to be heroes in our own way. Supporting kids who need treatment makes this run more meaningful,” Delos Santos added during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao.
Cash prizes and trophies await top finishers in the 10K and 5K individual races.
The 10K champions (male and female) will each receive ₱10,000, with second and third placers taking home ₱5,000 and ₱3,000, respectively. Winners of the 5K will get ₱5,000, ₱3,000, and ₱2,000, with all podium finishers also receiving trophies.
Families joining the 3K Family Run can look forward to a fun bonding experience, with the top family receiving a special trophy. The 3K Individual Run will be a non-competitive, just-for-fun category designed for runners who simply want to enjoy the event.
Superheroes will be present at the venue for photos and entertainment, especially for kids. Some costumed characters will even join the run itself, giving participants a chance to race alongside figures like Darna or Spider-Man.
Delos Santos noted this is the first event of its kind in Davao and thanked DSA and sponsors for their support.
